If it is not removed properly, it keeps resurfacing for weeks — the new owner wipes a sill in month two and it is still there.

No, and be careful with anyone who says it is. It takes considerably longer, needs different equipment, and the dust load is nothing like a normal house. We quote it separately after seeing the scope.
After every trade is finished and out. If a contractor comes back afterwards to fix something, the dust comes back with them.
